CropText Privacy Policy
CropText (“the App”) is developed by Janne Jakola. This policy explains how the App handles information when you use it on your Android device.
Summary
CropText processes photos and text on your device. The App does not require an account and does not collect personal data for advertising or analytics.
Information we process
- Photos and images. When you take a photo or choose an image from your gallery, the App uses it only to recognize text in the area you select.
- Recognized text. Text stays on your device unless you choose to copy, share, or search with it.
- Camera access. Used only to capture photos for text recognition. You can deny camera permission and still pick images from the gallery.
On-device processing
Text recognition runs on your device using on-device machine learning. Selected image areas used for recognition are not uploaded to our servers. CropText does not operate a backend that stores your photos or recognized text.
Features that leave the App
Only when you choose them:
- Search. Opens a web search with the text you provide. That search is handled by your device’s search or browser apps under their own policies.
- Share. Sends text to an app you select (for example email or messaging).
- Optional tip. If you choose to leave a tip, Google Play Billing processes the one-time in-app purchase under Google’s policies. A tip does not unlock extra features.
Data storage and retention
Photos captured for recognition may be stored temporarily on your device so the App can display and process them. Recognized text remains in the App until you edit, clear, or leave the screen. We do not retain your content on our own servers.
Children
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
